PROCEDURES FOR WEDNESDAY WELL–BEING CLUB

ABOUT US

The Wednesday Well Being Club is part of the Guernsey Walking Football Club, which has as its key  objectives fun, friendship and fitness.

Our Wednesday sessions are non competitive and designed to enable players recovering from injury or ongoing physical or mental illness to play football in a safe environment, free from the risk of injury.

Newcomers are welcome and are asked to attend at least 20 minutes before the start of Wednesday sessions so that they can receive an induction to the basic principles of walking football and to be assessed for their fitness to participate in the Wednesday sessions.

PRIOR TO JOINING THE SESSION

Each prospective new participant has to complete a signed Health Disclosure Form (link) which includes disclosure of any medical conditions and medications being taken by the participant. Any changes to medical conditions or medication disclosed in the original Health Declaration Form must be updated by the submission of a new signed form.

Guernsey Walking Football Club LBG takes no responsibility for liability for any injury sustained by any player participating in the Well Beings sessions and reserves the right to decline participation if in the opinion of the Well Beings coaching staff, the applicant is not sufficiently fit and able to take part without risk of injury.

Each prospective new participant will be assessed as to their fitness to participate. A new participant referred to WellBeings on medical grounds must be accompanied by a carer. The carer must remain present to deliver, observe and return the participant to their home address after the session.

If in the opinion of the WellBeings coaching team the participant, after having commenced playing, is not capable of playing without suffering injury, the player can be required to cease participation.

Any WellBeings participant experiencing feelings of being unwell must immediately notify a member of the coaching staff (and carer if accompanied) and cease playing immediately.

A defibrillator is located at KGV and Aztech and members of the WellBeings coaching staff have received first aid training.

No fee is charged for attendance at the WellBeings sessions and complimentary tea or coffee is served after the sessions.

THE SESSION

All participants of the session have to have an initial assessment before any activity is undertaken. If after the assessment, the coaches think this activity is not for the participant, they are within their rights to deny membership. If the player is bought to the session by a carer that carer is required to stay on site for the duration. Players will only be passed to the Walking Football session once the assessment coaches are happy it is within their capabilities. If an attendee is not feeling well or is having issue with medication, please tell the coaches prior to the session and a decision will be made as to whether they can join in. If any of the player’s medication changes a new Medical Disclaimer needs to be filled in. The coaches are First Aid trained and there is a defibrillator on site.
