Walking Football is a completely different sport to “Association Football” primarily through the elimination of running and physical contact.

It requires skills based on passing the ball, movement and anticipation, rather than out-pacing or out-muscling individual players.

The game allows people of differing ages, gender, abilities and experiences to participate TOGETHER. The Walking Football Association’s (WFA) “Laws of the Game (LOTG)” have been designed to meet the values and ethos of this unique sport.

We welcome players aged 40+ to all sessions, but players under the age of 40 may be admitted as members at the discretion of the Directors if they no longer play mainstream football due to injury or a medical condition.

Walking Football in Guernsey was officially introduced to the public during “Healthy Heart Weekend” held at Beau Sejour in early 2016 and again in 2017, where the public were invited to participate in a session alongside players from the club.

During the next 2 years many events were organised, supporting the Bobby Moore Foundation being one of the first for the club. Coaching sessions were organised during 2018 at Beau Sejour and the Styx Community centre to help new players take up the activity.

KGV had been our ’Home’ for GWFC where we held our first Festival, trips to Jersey, the first ever Internationals with England Men and Women teams and more recently with the Isle of Man.  2020/21 will see more opportunities for the newly formed Guernsey Walking Football LBG Charity
